It was that time of year again and the start of the Wessex Pilgrims 42nd consecutive year.The settings was exellent and the weather perfect Pilgrims were ask to field first.Harry R and Simaon G opened the bowling and after the first 6 overs byes were top score with Lyndhurst losing thier first wicket with the score on 11. After the opening spell of 12 overs Lyndhust had moved too 26-2 with Simon G 1-8 and Harry R 1-10 off 6 overs each.Next to bowl were Andy Lavender and Sam Birt where Sam managed a wicket on his first ball with a fine catch by Trevor Warren.Tight bowling from Andy and Sam made it difficult for Lyndhurst to score, both finishing their 8 overs spell with Andy 2-26 and Sam 2-18.Paul Harding and Jim Straight were next to bowl and Lydhust started too push the run rate along.After 37 overs Lyndhurst had reached 153 before Trevor Warren took over at Jim's end. One over later and 3 wickets for just 4 runs for Trevor Lydhurst were dismissed for 157. After a lovely tea it was Pilgrims turn to bat.Paul Rendall and Lawrence Down opened the batting but were soon back in the Pavilion as was Trevor Warren with the score on 17-3. Craig Dennett was joined at the crease by Simon G and the runs started to flow.Craig soon reached his 50 before being caught behind with a score of 59 and pilgrims on 91-4. This soon became 107-7 with Sam getting a first ball duck and Simon G being bowled 0n 26and Nick B going for 7. Paul Harding and Andy Lavender took us to within 12 runs of victory with Andy getting a Quick fire 31 before being Bowled. Paul H (22no) and Harry R took us to victory with 2 wickets to spare.
